New District Rates and Budget for FY 10/11 – The CIBCSD Board approved the Districts FY10/11Budget at their regular meeting held July 13, 2010. The new rates and fees are effective as of August 15, 2010. Customers can expect to see the new rates reflected on the next billing cycle, mailed to your home around October 1, 2010. Included on the reverse side is a  summary of the Districts new rates and fees that will be reflected on your next monthly billing. If you have questions regarding how these rates will affect your bill our customer service staff is ready to answer your questions at 985-6021

Access to Water Meters- Our meter readers need your help. We are requesting that customers not park cars on top of the meter box during meter reading times (usually the 14th through the 18th of each month).  If we are unable to access your meter we must estimate your bill. In the event your car is on the meter the day our meter reader is in the area, we will return within two days and make a second attempt at obtaining the read, prior to estimating your bill (your bill will show “estimated” next to the read).

SEWER INFORMATION:Important Sewer Info: PLEASE READ: The District needs your help in preventing sewer back ups and costly maintenance expenses. Did you know that the majority of sewer system back ups and maintenance expenses are related to grease or other prohibited items being placed down the drain. By not placing those items down your drain you will avoid the potential of a back up in your private sewer lateral. Private sewer lateral issues are the customer responsibility and any damage resulting from the back up must be paid by the customer.  In addition to minimizing your liabilities the elimination of these items from the waste stream will help control cost for everybody in our community by reducing unnecessary sewer back ups and maintenance activities in the public collection system.  Below is a list of prohibited items commonly found in our wastewater system: DO NOT PLACE DOWN THE DRAIN:
Wet Ones or baby wipes
Clothing or fabric of any sort
Any fats, oils or grease (cooking or otherwise)
Feminine Hygiene applicators
Prescription drug bottles
Condoms
Other prohibited items include paints, solvents, pesticides, gasoline and prescription drugs.
Simply put, only human waste, toilet paper, clothes washer water, sink and shower drain water should be going down your sewer.

-No hosing down of hard paved surfaces
-When washing your vehicle your hose must be equipped with a self closing spray nozzel
-Irrigating of landscaping is prohibited between the hours of 9:00 am-4:00pm
-Watering duration limited to ten minutes per station per day for areas irrigated by sprinklers
-No excessive water flow or runoff, irrigation water must not runoff onto hard or paved surfaces.
-Leaks must be repaired within 10 days of being notified of the leak

Your Channel Islands Beach Emergency Response Team (CIBERT) reminds you to be READY in the event of a disaster.
One important way to protect your family is to have an emergency kit.
The RED CROSS recommends that each household have three types of emergency kits:

1. GO KIT: This is a small compact kit kept by your door or under your bed should you have to evacuate quickly. This kit should include some of the following: Small amount of food and water, change of clothing, medications, flash light, a first aid kit and copies of important documents.

2. CAR/OFFICE KIT: This kit should include the same items as the GO KIT but have enough supplies to last up to two days without assistance. This kit should aslo include a sturdy pair of walking shoes.

3. HOME KIT: This is the largest of the three kits. It should contain enough supplies to last you and your family four weeks without utilities. Food should be nonperishable and edible without heat or water. It is also estimated that each member of the house needs one gallon of water per day.

WATER CONSERVATION ORDINANCE: The District strongly encourages each customer to take water conservation at their property seriously and begin implementing good water practices. In the coming months the District Board will be considering the adoption of a water waste ordinance that will limit certain kinds of water use and require customers to practice good water habits. Check the District Board meeting agendas or give us a call to review the ordinance or if you have any questions as to how you can conserve water at your property. Please check the water conservation tab to the left.

Dog Owners SCOOP, SCOOP, SCOOP IT UP:
Owners are reminded to control and care for your pets. The District has received many complaints regarding loose dogs and a lack of potty pick up. The Beach and our neighborhood streets are not pet restrooms. Please be responsible and remember to keep your dog on a leash and clean up after them when nature calls. Thank you to those pet owners that do comply.

Pesticide use:
Residents are reminded to use caution when using pesticides in areas that children and animals come in contact with. Recently residents have reported animal illnesses due to incidental contact with pesticides.

Water Conservation:
Did you know Southern California is currently experiencing a drought and the potential cutback of imported water supplies is being contemplated? Residents need to be proactive and begin implementing water conservation measures in what could prove to be an extended drought cycle. Responsible water use is the key to conservation. Please see our Water Conservation page for more information and tips.
